I first got involved with MEBA in the mid 90's when we were based at Store Street. I only boxed briefly at Youth Club level from Corpus Christi in Miles Platting, unfortunately, not excelling. However, my interest in boxing was born and I have been an avid follower ever since.

At the time, I was heavily involved in running a Manchester City Supporters Club, based in the Hare and Hounds, Shudehill, along with my current partner and former landlady, Maxine Doyle. I also produced a monthly newsletter for them and suggested that maybe we could do one for MEBA. This was greeted with a lot of enthusiasm and so the Associations monthly newsletter was born and I was invited onto the committee, which I was very proud to accept.

I continued writing the newsletter for some 15 years, till 2015 when, unfortunately due to personal circumstances I had to step aside and move to pastures new.

However, the lure of the Association, couldn't hold me back and like a bad penny I returned in 2022,  purely and simply to be back amongst the fold. It was great to see that the Newsletter was still prospering under the guidance of Ian Harrison, and what a great job he continues to do !!!!

It was great to be back amongst old friends and for my sins, it wasn't long before I was enticed back to the committee to undertake the task of relaunching a website, something that I had never undertaken before but was glad of the opportunity of a project to fill my time seeing as I had to retire due to ill health, the  fruits of which, you can see within this website.

I will be forever grateful to my MEBA family and friends for once again giving me a purpose and long may the Association prosper!
